December 6, 2024 - Catina – Default Numbering and Auto-Incrementing Forms/Pay Apps

We’re excited to announce updates to Catina that enhance default numbering and auto-increment functionality for forms and pay applications. These updates provide greater flexibility, improved automation, and user control over application numbering.

New Features & Updates

1. Automatic Incrementing for Linked Forms
   • When creating a new form linked to a previous version, the system now automatically increments the application number by one, simplifying the numbering process for sequential workflows.
   • Example: If the previous application is numbered "002," the new application will default to "003" upon import.
2. Custom Application Number Support
   • Users can now manually input and save custom application numbers or strings (e.g., "ABC-001").
   • Custom inputs will remain static and will not auto-increment on subsequent forms, allowing for complete flexibility in numbering schemes.
3. Default Numbering for New, Unlinked Documents
   • When creating a new, unlinked form or pay application, the system will automatically assign "001" as the default application number, ensuring consistency in project workflows.
4. Independent Series by Document Type
   • Application numbers are now managed independently for each document type.
   • Example: Pay applications and change orders within the same project will have separate numbering series. The first pay application defaults to "001," and the first change order will also default to "001," unless customized by the user.

Helpful Hints

• Documents that the user inputs a string of text with a number will not automatically increment (example: "ProjectA-001" will not increment to "ProjectA-002")
• Only documents that include the "import from previous" functionality will be eligible for this behavior (see documents below)
