Synopsis.

AIA Document G706A–1994 supports AIA Document G706–1994 in the event that the owner requires a sworn statement of the contractor stating that all releases or waivers of liens have been received. In such event, it is normal for the contractor to submit AIA Documents G706–1994 and G706A–1994 along with attached releases or waivers of liens for the contractor, all subcontractors, and others who may have lien rights against the owner’s property. The contractor is required to list any exceptions to the sworn statement provided in G706A–1994, and may be required to furnish to the owner a lien bond or indemnity bond to protect the owner with respect to such exceptions. For use and execution of a document, see its instructions  »

Purpose.

AIA Document G706A is intended for use as companion to AIA Document G706, Contractor’s Affidavit of Payment of Debts and Claims.

This document may be used with most of AIA’s Owner-Contractor agreements and general conditions, such as A201 and its related family of documents. As noted above, this is a companion document to AIA Document G706.

Changes to the previous edition.

A cross-reference to AIA Document A201 has been deleted to permit the use of G706A with other families of AIA documents, including construction management, interiors, and design/build.
