What is the AI Assistant? 

AI Assistant is an in-app AI-powered chat experience that helps you quickly understand AIA contracts, find answers, and move work forward directly within your documents. AI Assistant is available directly in Catina. There is no setup required. Once enabled, you can simply start asking questions in the chat interface. 

You can ask plain-language questions about AIA contract templates and your own AIA  documents and receive plain language answers that are context-aware. To do so, AI Assistant draws on Catina’s library of templates, Help and Learn articles, and document guides to deliver answers in real time.

Contextual Answers, Right Where You Are

The AI Assistant understands where you are in Catina and tailors its responses accordingly.

  • Working in a document? Ask a question and the AI Assistant will focus on that document .
  • Browsing outside a document? The AI Assistant shifts into guidance mode, helping you search, explore AIA documents, and find the right starting point.

What Won’t AI Assistant Do

  • AI Assistant does not provide legal advice. 
  • AI Assistant does not perform risk review or legal analysis. 
  • AI Assistant does not edit documents, rewrite content, or generate custom clauses. 
  • AI Assistant will not answer questions on external files, integrations, or non-document data. 
  • AI Assistant may generate variable or incorrect responses; outputs are non-deterministic, and standard AI disclaimers apply. 
  • AI Assistant requires human judgment; users should validate outputs, especially critical decisions.

When the AI Assistant Doesn't Have an Answer

The AI Assistant is designed to be upfront about what it knows and what it doesn't. When a question falls outside what it can reliably answer, it will say so clearly rather than guess. You'll always know when to seek additional guidance.

How to Access AI Assistant

The AI Assistant is available exclusively to Unlimited Subscription users on an opt-in basis. It is compatible with both Catina’s current V1 and the New Editor, coming soon. Interested in AI Assistant? Your admin can opt in for early access to our AI Assistant to see how fast your team can move from question to decision.

Data and Privacy

Prior to enabling AI Assistant, your team’s Billing Admin will be prompted to accept an addendum to our Terms of Use that includes new terms reflecting AI product usage.

Customer chats will be saved within the user’s account, consistent with Catina’s enterprise-hosted model and other saved platform data. Customer data will NOT be used to train third-party AI models. The AI Assistant respects user-level permissions and uses the authentication layer to access and return only information the user is authorized to view.
