Autodesk Partner Card with Catina

AIA Contract Documents is excited to announce the integration with Autodesk through an optional partner card that can be accessed through the Autodesk Partner Card Library. This integration delivers a convenient view of customer's existing Catina document and projects, as well as the ability to create new documents and projects without leaving the Autodesk platform. Basic Functionality 

1. Login to your Catina account directly in Autodesk

2. View any project in your Catina account

3. View existing AIA documents within any selected project

4. Create a new Catina project

1. Requires input of Project Name

2. Optionally, input Project Type (drop down), Contract Cost Structure, Development Type, description of the project, address, project value, their role (drop down), Architect Number, Contract Number, and Owner Number.

5. Create new documents in a Catina project with direct access to the full library of AIA Templates & any Custom templates saved in your account

1. Requires input of Document Name

2. Optionally, input project team roles (dropdowns populate from Catina project for Organizations and Contacts)

From the Autodesk platform you cannot (yet)...

  1. Edit AIA Documents directly in Autodesk
  2. Prefill new AIA document fields with any saved Autodesk project data
  3. Finalize an AIA contract from Autodesk (This must be done in Catina Platform)

Step-by-Step Guide

​​Getting the App​ 

    1. Visit the Autodesk Partner Card Library.
    2. Select the new AIA Contract Documents partner card and add it to your dashboard. 

​​Using the App​

1. The Catina app will prompt you to begin – click Get Started.

2. Enter your credentials in the Catina login pop-up.

3. Once logged in, you will see a list of your existing Catina projects and be able to select one.

4. Once selected, you can view all existing AIA documents in that Catina project.

5. You can also create a new AIA Contract Document within the project by clicking “New Document” at the top. You can filter by standard AIA Templates or Custom templates saved in your account.

6. After selecting your template, click “Configure” and add a Document Name. You can optionally add a project team in the panel as well. Dropdowns will populate based on project data already saved in Catina.

7. Clicking “Open Document” on any document saved within a project will launch Catina in a separate tab for editing and finalization. You will see the Document name and project team details already populated in the document.

8. If you do not yet have a project set up in Catina, you can click “New Project” to create one from scratch. You can then add documents once the project is created.

    1. A new project requires a Project Name
    2. Optionally, you can add a Project Type (drop down), Contract Cost Structure, Development Type, a description of the project, the address, project value, your role (drop down), Architect Number, Contract Number, and Owner Number.
    3. Important: None of these fields currently prefill with data from the Autodesk project.

What is Autodesk?

Relating to projects that require AIA Contracts, Autodesk is primarily used by architects designing 2D and 3D models of buildings for construction.

What does this integration mean? How are AIA Contract Documents’ customers impacted by this integration?

Autodesk is a widely used design software by architects and designers around the world, many of which require AIA Contract Documents for their projects. This integration is built to improve their experience using Autodesk by providing easier access to AIA Contract Documents within their existing project workflows in Autodesk.

Who is this integration available for? 

This app will be available within the Autodesk Partner Card library and any active AIA Contract Document subscriber can install the partner card within their Autodesk customized dashboard for immediate access to their Catina projects and AIA Contract Documents.

How much does the integration cost?

If you have an Autodesk account and an AIA Contract Documents subscription, it’s free! You simply need to install if from the Autodesk Partner Card Library and login to your Catina account within the new card on your dashboard.

How does this integration work?

When customers are logged into Autodesk, they will need the partner card added to their dashboard to access Catina and their AIA Contract Documents. Once the AIA Contract Documents partner card has been installed to their Autodesk account, they will see (and be able to customize the placement of) the Catina app.

When an AIA document is created in Autodesk will the customer be able to see this in Catina? And if a document is created in Catina, will it be available in Autodesk? 

Yes. When a Catina project is created in Autodesk via the app, any AIA document that is created and saved within that project folder will be visible in both systems. When clicked to open, the document will open in a new tab on Catina for editing.

Can an Autodesk user edit all AIA document fields within the Autodesk partner card?

No. An Autodesk user can create a new document with a title and optional team contacts for document participants, but all other AIA Contract Document edits must be completed within Catina.

Can an Autodesk user finalize an AIA document in Autodesk?

No. Finalization for any AIA Contract Document must be done in Catina.
