New Multi-Factor Authentication

Summary

AIA Contract Documents is improving the security of your data within our online platforms through a new Multi-Factor Authentication Process. This article walks through what our authentication process is, how to set it up, and some frequently asked questions.

What is a Multi-Factor Authenticator:

Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is an authentication method that requires the user to provide two or more forms of identity verification before they’re allowed access to a website, network, or application. Implementing a MFA can significantly strengthen security across various digital platforms through:

  • Mitigating the risk of data breaches and unauthorized access
  • Supporting compliance of industry regulations and standards, like GDPR and PCI DSS
  • Making it exceedingly difficult for attackers to access sensitive information
  • Maintaining trust and credibility with customers

AIA Contract Documents is introducing a new Multi-Factor Authenticator to help increase account security and privacy while using our online platforms. When you log into the Catina or ACD5 Platform, you will be prompted to set up a phone number and provide a verification code to confirm your identity. To learn more about the steps please check out the short guide below.

How often do I need to re-authenticate?

You will need to re-authenticate periodically to protect your security and data. Certain factors may require you to authenticate sooner, such as:

  • Browser Cache & Cookies: If your browser cache or cookies are cleared, your authentication session may be removed, requiring you to log in again.
  • New Devices or Browsers: If you access your account from a different device or a new browser, you will need to authenticate again for security reasons.
  • Private Browsing Modes: Using incognito or private browsing mode will not retain authentication, meaning you'll have to log in each session.
  • Security Settings & Changes: If there are security updates, password changes, or suspicious activity detected on your account, you may be required to re-authenticate more frequently.

To minimize frequent logins, ensure you’re using the same trusted device and browser with cookies enabled.
