References to retired BIM documents

Edits to AIA Contract Documents due to Retired BIM and Digital Practice Documents

In July 2022, AIA Contract Documents published an updated family of BIM and Digital Practice Documents, which include the eight documents and guide listed below. These 2022 BIM and Digital Practice Documents are intended to replace the 2013 BIM and Digital Practice Documents. Between July 2022 and July 31, 2024, AIA Contract Documents customers have continued to have access to the 2013 BIM and Digital Practice Documents in order to wind down their use of those documents. The 2013 BIM and Digital Practice Documents will be permanently retired on July 31, 2024, and will no longer be available for use in any AIA Contract Documents platform.

Most AIA Contract Documents published between 2013 and 2022 contained specific references to the 2013 BIM and Digital Practice Documents. Also, some AIA Contract Documents published prior to 2013 contain specific references to other retired digital practice documents that were published in 2007 and 2008. Consequently, given that all of these retired digital practice documents will be unavailable after July 31, 2024, minor edits have been made to other affected documents to eliminate references to these retired documents. The following is an example of these edits in AIA Document B101^®-2017:
