Synopsis.
This form is used to obtain price quotations required in the negotiation of change orders. AIA Document G709–2018 is not a change order or a direction to proceed with the work. It is simply a request to the contractor for information related to a proposed change in the construction contract. G709 provides a clear and concise means of initiating the process for changes in the work. For use and execution of a document, see its instructions »
Purpose.
AIA Document G709–2018 is an administrative form not intended to modify the contract for construction. G709 is for securing price quotes for the negotiation of Work changes. While the terms of AIA Document A201®, General Conditions of the Contract for Construction, or the terms of other AIA Contract Documents do not call for it, G709 provides a clear and concise means of initiating the process for changes in the Work.
